Some are mostly standing while others are little more than the rectangular-shaped ruins of a stone foundation from some long forgotten homesteader\u2019s house or barn.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.selectstone.com\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Old-barns.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"654\" height=\"467\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-51\" alt=\"Old-barns\" src=\"http:\/\/www.selectstone.com\/journal\/images\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Old-barns.jpg?aoe=1&amp;q=100&amp;w=458&amp;h=327&amp;hash=b6cd33cd8ffbc021e0647787fa8c53ae\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.selectstone.com\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Old-barns.jpg 654w, http:\/\/www.selectstone.com\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Old-barns-300x214.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 654px) 100vw, 654px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>These buildings were typically built from fieldstone that homesteaders cleared from their fields and mixed with low-grade lime mortar made on site. These same piles were the stone source for the old homestead-era stone buildings. The difference is we now sort and chop the fieldstone to fit into a modern 6\u2033 thick masonry wall.<\/p>\n<p>We also cut Homestead Fieldstone into 1\u2033 to 1 1\/2\u2033 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.selectstone.com\/stone-products\/natural-stone-thin-veneer\/?showGallery=110&amp;startAt=0\" target=\"_blank\">thin veneer<\/a> as show below.
